Sports with high injury rates, such as gymnastics, rugby, horseback riding, or American football, by way of example, are not considered XDGE sports as the possibility of death is almost non-existent. Similarly, endurance-related sports, while extremely challenging, generally do not pose a fear factor. Triathlons or similar events DO qualify as death rates that are beyond the "norm." FICOR assumes the most common or generic performance of the sport when performed by a newcomer to the sport who has gone through the normal training and progression to perform the XDGE sport.
